Hooptober Classic

Hooptober Classic is a Southern California youth basketball tournament hosted by 94 to Score at Jump Beyond in Torrance, CA. Saturday features pool play with two guaranteed games per team, followed by seeded bracket play on Sunday. Team registration is $300, or $275 per team when registering multiple teams. Spectator entry is $20 per day.

Structure

Saturday – Pool Play: Every team is guaranteed two games. Results determine standings and seeding for Sunday.

Sunday – Bracket Play: Teams are seeded based on Saturday’s results and placed into their bracket, playing toward the championship game.

Rules

All games consist of two 14-minute stop-clock halves. The clock runs during the second half once a team leads by 15 or more points. A 10-second backcourt violation applies in all divisions. Teams enter double-bonus free throws once the opposing team reaches 10 team fouls in a half — there is no single bonus. A player fouls out after 5 personal fouls. Each team gets 3 full 30-second timeouts per game, plus one additional timeout in overtime; timeouts do not carry over. Overtime periods are 2 minutes on a stop clock; a third overtime is decided by sudden death. Players may enter the lane once the ball leaves the shooter’s hand. The home team provides the game ball. Boys divisions 12u/6th grade and up use the full-size 29.5 ball; all girls divisions and boys 11u/5th grade and below use the 28.5 ball. A team without five players at the start of the game receives a 10-minute grace period, after which they may play with four players or forfeit.

Conduct

Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their team and parents. Misconduct on or off the court, by players or coaches, may result in individual or team disqualification.
